A Year in Review: 2013 Highlights
As 2013 comes to a close, we’re thinking back on what an incredible year this has been, how many new friends we’ve made, and about the energy we have for 2014!
If you haven’t been with us all year, or if you want to see what we’re talking about!, check out the milestones we’ve had in the past year!
2013 Portland Bloggers Review
We had a great turnout to our January meet-up, Give Your Blog a Buzz in 2013 (photos here). We filled that tasting room up with excited bloggers and heard from some new speakers about motivation, goals, and ideas. And we met a bunch of new bloggers!
Our free printable for the event, the blog planner, was a major hit with Portland bloggers and others around the globe!
We hosted a brand new kind of event in March, our Strike a Pose photography session workshop, with 7 local photographers and several stylists generously donating their time to our bloggers in need of new headshots. It was seriously amazing looking at all the shots that came out of that cloudy afternoon. We bloggers want to put our best photos forward, and many of us really needed the new shots and posing/styling/photo tips we learned from each other! And had a great happy hour afterwards!
We had an awesome educational event in May, Social Strategies for Bloggers, presented by local SEO/web marketing firm SwellPath. The presentation was tailored specifically to bloggers and taught us how we can use social media to our advantage! We also had some great treats provided by local businesses!
We hosted an info-heavy educational event in September, Back to School with Portland Bloggers: Monetize Your Blog. We were grateful to have some very cool guest speakers as well as a thorough PowerPoint (see it here) with lots of images and sponsorship info! And, we took “school pictures” of all our attendees for our “yearbook”!
Fall was busy for us–we had another event in October, this one hosted by local PR firm Little Green Pickle. October’s Holiday Mingle event featured some of the most amazing food from local restaurants and brands, plus a fab panel of local PR firms talking about what they look for in bloggers (particularly relating to food, but tips all of us can use!). It was a great way to start the holiday season–it starts early for us bloggers and influencers!
The rest of 2013!
We didn’t host any events this November or December, but we did make some big plans for next year, including events and organizational restructuring. We got a lot of interest in building our team of organizers, and we are so excited to have some new helpers next year!
Some of us were VIPs at Portland Fashion Week, some of us were on a panel (or attended) the CRAVE Portland blogging event, and many of us met other Oregon and Washington bloggers at the PNW Blogger Spring Party and Holiday Party events! That’s just to name a few!
We’ve been busy all year, and are so excited to meet more of you and do more educational and social events in 2014!
