Hello! My name is Erika. I'm in love with making art, collecting old things & chasing after my two kiddos. This blog is a peek into my happy accidents & plots of total world domination.

Hi! My name is Erika and this blog is my place where I keep my inspiration, my favorite memories and most of all, my journey of makings things in both life and art. I am a self taught oil painter and I took the plunge to leave my corporate job in order to paint full time. I show my artwork around town and have been featured in the last four seasons of the television show, "Portlandia." I am a mommy to my daughter Nora, who was born 7/11/12 and baby Everett, who was born 11/11/14. I have a bearded husband named Tim and have two pretty mischievous pugs. I am a Spanish girl who came to Portland four years ago following the love of my life. I work in public accounting #CPA, i love my beautiful rescued dog Maui and I am really into fashion. As I am done with my studies and finally starting to discover more places in Portland, I would love to share all my adventures with you. I hope you will like them!

Success occurs when your dreams get bigger than your excuses. For the last four years i had to balance my busy schedule at work with my studies. During that time i sometimes found really hard to find motivation to come back from work and keep myself focused on the books. So one of my motivations was the classic Chanel as a reward for myself whenever i passed my tests. This year it finally happened!! I passed all my exams and my husbands (who suffered with me the long hours of study and weekends in front of the book) surprised me with this beautiful bag. I am really excited because this was always my dream bag and because it represents a big success on my life and my career. As they say - don't dream about it, work for it and it will happen!

Any Adventure
Any Adventure
Any Adventure is a lifestyle and culture blog based in Portland, OR featuring recipes, book reviews, geek/pop culture news, travel guides, and more.

Hi! I’m Natalie. I’m closer to 30 than 20. By day, I’m a PR and social media specialist; by night, I’m, well, still a PR and social media specialist since PR isn’t really a 9-5 job. But during my free time/Sunday evenings/day dreams, I love exploring new things in food, travel, and tech. I’m a self-proclaimed geek, Disney-nerd, and movie enthusiast. I’m not an “expert” in anything in particular, but I don’t think you have to be – get out there and explore any adventure you wish!

Any Adventure is a lifestyle and culture blog featuring recipes, book reviews, geek/pop culture news, travel guides, and more. One day I might be experimenting with a new gluten free pie recipe, the next I might be exploring a new town on the Oregon coast, and the next I might be crafting a new cosplay for a local con. You may occasionally catch a glimpse of my husband, Kevin, and our three cats – Soxy, Detective Mittens, and Ali.

I love trying new things and hope to inspire you to do the same. Because every once in awhile, something goes better than expected. Through this blog, I hope to remind myself and others to notice the little unexpected intrusions of beauty in life, and never stop pursuing adventure

Avanti Body Jewelry Blog
Fashion & jewelry blog from Avanti Body Jewelry.

We’ve helped people find fine and unique body jewelry since opening our first kiosk in Eugene’s Valley River Center during the summer of 2007. That experience launched us up I/5 to the Portland area and we opened our first Washington Square location in early 2008. Avanti, and our style of customer-first service was warmly welcomed and we’d found a great home base!

Owners Tyler & Janna Drake have helped to make body jewelry available in a clean, family friendly environment, and that service model led to the Avanti expanding into a custom built kiosk in 2010. That location was then expanded the following year with an even bigger footprint in Washington Square. The business continued to build inventory and variety while developing great relationships with a growing number of customers.

Our current showroom opened in June of 2013 and now our guests can stroll through 1,400 square feet of well-lit and great priced body jewelry. Being able to browse without a kid tagging along isn’t always possible. One of the best things about the move has been having the Washington Square play area immediately outside our door!

At Avanti Body Jewelry, we’re happy to have created a clean and welcoming place to come and browse, or get expert advice on what’s possible. Always helpful and smiling, our staff is trained to help customers leave with smiles of their own. They come back, too. We estimate that 80% of our customers are returning for more of the same great service. We hope you’ll come by to check us out in person, or visit our online store to see our great variety of body jewelry.

A mindful eating journal sharing recipes and food stories from portland

.. I am on an adventure to mindfully savour food. In my blog I chronicle my kitchen creations and my quest to eat mindfully, to slow down and enjoy the smells, textures, and colors of food. I firmly believe it's not about what you eat but how you pay attention. Full attention during a meal can mean you derive more satisfaction from just a few bites, than you might get by eating a whole big meal while distracted. I will share what I learn along the way.

I've been sewing and crafting for as long as I can remember. If there's a technique I haven't tried, it's probably on my wish list. At my blog, Crafty Staci, I share beginner-friendly craft and sewing tutorials, simple recipes, links to fun things I find elsewhere and my successful, and sometimes not-so-successful, attempts at expressing my own creativity. I find that people who haven't tried it before are occasionally hesitant to take that first step into making things. I try to guide and inspire them to jump in and not be afraid to make mistakes along the way. I hope to encourage others to create and keep handmade alive and well.

I was paying $800 a month in credit card INTEREST ONLY. The ship was sinking fast!! I also had money tied up in physical inventory in my business that was sitting in a cold warehouse.

I named my blog Everyday Runaway because I don’t believe you need to quit your job, sell your belongings and live out of a backpack to “runaway” from the mundane, weekly grind of everyday life. Whether tromping through distant jungles, diving to long-lost shipwrecks or climbing snow-capped mountains, expeditions capture the human imagination like no other pursuit. I explore expeditions of all varieties on this blog and through my novels. My background is in historic shipwrecks--but my passion is exploration of any kind.

Though he loves covering the expeditions of others, Taylor Zajonc enjoys going on his own even more! This passion has translated into this blog, novels, non-fiction writing and speaking.

As a maritime historian, Explorers Club member, shipwreck expert and avid world traveler, Taylor Zajonc’s real-life adventures nearly exceed those of his fictional counterparts. His fascination with exploration began when he joined a Russian expedition to the deepest archaeological site on the planet, descending nearly three miles into the abyss of the Bermuda Triangle aboard a Soviet-era submersible.

Taylor’s debut novel, The Wrecking Crew is a thrilling adventure set in the world’s last frontier, a story of a deep-water salvage diver set free from a Moroccan prison and forced to lead a covert mission into pirate-infested Somali waters. When his expedition threatens to expose the true source of an oceanic plague, he must assemble an unproven crew of former enemies and fight for the fate of the entire region. This novel will be released by Blank Slate Press on February 23, 2016. (Pre-order now!)

Kelly's Sustainable Life is a space where I take the time to share my thoughts and experiences related to living a lifestyle that allows me to do my part to conserve resources and preserve the planet. As much as it is overused, I still believe it is an accurate and succinct way to describe the way I live my life because I want my lifestyle to be attainable by everyone every day, and not something just for those who have the time and financial resources.

Let's Nom Nom: restaurant reviews, vegetarian recipes, lifestyle & local events.

Hi, I’m Waz! I recently relocated from New York City to Portland, Oregon. I’m an architect turned graphic designer, and I discovered my love for food while working in advertising for the wine industry. When I moved to NYC in 2011, I started Let’s Nom Nom as to document my cooking and dining adventures in my new city.

Over the years, I’ve gone from flexitarian to vegetarian to mostly vegan, and my blog has followed me on this journey. A plant-based diet is healthier and kinder to my body, to animals, and to our environment. I believe the best way to win omnivores over is by raising awareness of the positive effects of the plant-based movement and by celebrating great food that just so happens to be vegan. Today, my blog focuses on all things veggie, from restaurant reviews, to vegetarian recipes, to lifestyle and local events.

Lastly, why Let’s Nom Nom? Because food brings people together, and great food is best enjoyed with company!

Marionberryquilter.com
A blog about antique and modern quilts, hand quilting, photography, and life stories.

Molly Elizabeth McCabe
I grew up in Johnstown, Pennsylvania watching my mom sew and admiring all hand crafted items. When my three children (all born in Johnstown-- and one working at Google today) were young, the friend who watched my children, Yvonne, hand quilted beautifully pieced quilts at her home. With each visit, Yvonne’s quilting skills captured my interest. Over time, I picked up the basic quilt piecing skills and practiced hand quilting, while working on a college degree at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, pursuing part time work, student teaching, and raising my children.
My family and I moved to Keizer, Oregon 20 years ago.
Currently, I work out of a quilt studio and a sewing cabin on my property. I love working with fabric, especially antique fabric and antique quilt tops. Hand quilting, tying quilts, and working with talented machine quilters, I have personal projects I work on, as well as commissioned quilts for clients.
I am an educator who has taught quilt classes, middle school and high school students, English as a Second Language, a Certified Spiritual Director with a Master’s Degree from George Fox Evangelical Seminary, a photographer, a writer, and a speaker at retreats and special events.

My Fashion Fixes
My Fashion Fixes
I blog about affordable fashion sans pretension.

"Fashion is a way to express yourself and everyone has different things to say...."

I have always loved dressing up and exploring the world of fashion. Even as a little girl, I used to dress up my dolls (and my stuffed animals!). However, I have felt that there are too many appendages to the art of dressing - rules, restrictions and pretension.

When it comes to fashion, books or any form of art, I hate pretension. Beauty is at its best when it emanates from the heart and while it is great to be inspired, it is not right to be bullied into following tedious trends and useless rules.

I truly believe it is not fashionable being a fashion snob. Therefore, I do not follow fashion mandates. Through this blog, I simply share a few helpful fashion tips, some outfits that I love to wear and my fashion inspirations.

My personal style - simple, minimalist and classic, with a dash of quirk. I also bring out of my kitty, a few simple tricks to attain affordable fashion fixes, smart ways to repeat clothes/accessories and recycle the wardrobe.

So check out the way I dress and dress the way you want!

It is the foundation of who you are and has made you into the strong man or woman you always hoped to be. It is witness to a conversation during a first date, the center of a wedding ceremony, and the conversation sparker between families. Food is more than just a piece meat (figuratively speaking). It is what keeps us healthy and brings joy to our lives on a daily basis. This is what I hope to share.

Portland Burrito Junkie
An eternal quest for Portland's best burrito.

I seek out those shabby, yet colorful, little taquerias- the taco truck behind the gas station, the woman slinging tacos in the back of a tienda- these are the places that inspire me. For each review, I ask myself, "to what degree did this burrito fulfill my desire?" I'm a burrito junkie, I can't live without them. I dream about them.

Strawberry Woman
Strawberry Woman
bringing peace, calm and serious creativity to everyday meal preparation

The summer after second grade, at the tender age of eight, I started my first job. In the early morning hours, when the dew was still heavy on the vines, I boarded an old school bus with my siblings and most of the other town kids and rode to Hentze’s Berry Fields. Here I would spend the day picking strawberries. For pennies. This wasn’t exploitative child labor, it was a way of life in this small town nestled in the farmlands of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. It was a lot of things, more of which I’ll write about later, but for me it was the beginning of a passion for food. A passion that I have been blessed to make a career. Deep in my being is that red headed girl with the berry stained jeans. Strawberry Woman is the grown up version of that little girl, armed with lessons from a complicated life and countless hours cooking, ready to guide, instruct and inspire others toward a more peaceful and creative relationship with the kitchen.

Swim Into The Sound
Taylor Grimes is a Portland-based copywriter, humorist, and music enthusiast. I like writing, and I like writing about music.

My name is Taylor. I am a 23-year-old student of advertising, comedy, and pop culture. I spend most of my free time listening to music and podcasts.

Sometimes I play video games, and sometimes I run. Sometimes I watch movies, and sometimes I read. Sometimes I drink, and sometimes I don’t. I’m (obviously) a very well-rounded person, but of all the things that I enjoy, my biggest passion is music. Music is escapism just like any other medium, but I think that music represents the absolute purest form of escapism that we can achieve. Music can be tribal or transcendent. Music can bond us on a psychological level in a way that no movie or TV show can. It’s life-changing.

This blog is a place for me to talk about everything, from music to general life nonsense. This is a place for me to get my head words out on the digital page. It won’t always be pretty… or coherent… or correctly-punctuated, but sometimes you need a place to talk about it all. I love music. I love life.

The Awkward Olive
Embracing the everyday encounters that give life a little flavor

Its not so much that I thrive on awkward situations, it’s more that I seem to find myself in a lot of them, and thrive anyway… I think that life is all about embracing the every day encounters that give life a little bit of flavor… AKA loving on the little stuff… a lot. Mostly this is a place for me to tell stories about my life, what I’m cooking, crafting, reading, thinking, enjoying, and feeling on any given day. I don’t always proofread, though I probably should start. I like pickles, champagne, peanut sauce, the Red Sox, adventures and some other things. I’ve spend the last seven years directly and indirectly orbiting the Oregon food and wine scene, (delicious!) but mostly I’m just living and loving life in the Willamette Valley. Technically I’m a fashion consultant and boutique manager, but I also teach yoga and barre, and spend a lot of my free time wrangling my troll baby of a bulldog, pretending like I know how to garden, and working on developing my skills as a domestic goddess.

I believe that life is meant to be fun, easy, and beautiful. We are meant to achieve our dreams. To feel sexy. To be wealthy. To find true love. My super-powers are spiritually, pleasure-based living, and finding vibrational alignment.

The Salad Lobby
The Salad Lobby
The Salad Lobby advocates for salad's place at the table.

The Salad Lobby believes that adding salad to the table will result in healthier tables, healthier people, and healthier generations.
We aim to influence American food culture by changing assumptions that healthy food is bland, expensive, hard to obtain, or elitist. We want to bring salad to the table of all Americans. We do this by sharing the variety that salad can offer. Salad is more than a tasteless pile of greens offered reluctantly as a side. Salad can be a delicious meal in itself, a meal that’s inexpensive and easy to prepare. Along with our readers and fellow saladvocates, we will raise demand for salad. If Americans begin demanding healthier, fresher, and better tasting food, our system will be forced to supply. The Salad Lobby has two ingredients: the creative, path-blazing brain of Lindsay Sauvé and the marketing, digital brawn of Peter Korchnak. Lindsay is The Salad Lobby’s soul, Peter the system.

Our mission is to make wine fun.

Wine shouldn’t be about snobbery but about fun. Let us help you figure out your likes and dislikes. That way you can make more educated decisions and find wines you like to drink rather than just rolling the dice on a bottle, hoping you’ll enjoy what you taste. We believe that drinking wine is a great social activity too- and try to get the word out about wine events that are near and dear to our hearts!

I use stories to change minds and empower people to find their place in this world.

I was one of the weird kids at school. I’m sure everyone says that but I have the pictures to prove it. From as early as I can remember I was always looking for something that made me, ME. I tried every club, joined every team, dressed up for every holiday and I mean EVERY holiday. I was looking for my place in the world.

As I became an adult that didn’t change. I read book after book on happiness, purpose, passion and any other thing I could think of that would help me find my place. I moved up in my career and was good at it, but it never really felt like a purpose.

Then one day on a stage in North Carolina, of all places, that changed. While my family regales anyone who will listen with stories of how chatty and bossy I have always been, talking in public was NOT something I was good at. But somehow on this stage it was different. I was speaking about women and the cultural changes we have seen in the last 50 years. I felt an electricity. People were laughing in all the right places, nodding in agreement and gasping with shock and awe when I wanted them to. I even had on a really great outfit that day. As I walked off that stage sweating and heart pumping, it came to me. THIS IS IT! This is what I am meant to do.

In that exact moment the owners of the company I was speaking at offered me a pretty sweet job. It was all so crazy, all this time searching and then BAM here it was. I found my purpose by spending 35 years hustling to find it. I realize that it was all the little things I learned that set me up for success. All the jobs I had ever dreamed of had one thing in common: talking. It was there the whole time, but I needed time to fine tune my instrument and realize that purpose wouldn’t show up exactly how I expected.

I am a storyteller and that is my place in this world. I am here to tell stories that inspire and build up other people to realize their value and purpose. My blog is an effort to push others towards their purpose and to lift up women and girls to their full glory.

I write about career, success, purpose, passion, culture, marketing , gender and just general good positive content.

XO Series
XO Series
Currently based in Portland, XO Series is my avenue for all the things that create joy, spark adventure, and cultivate inspiration in my life.

From the mountainous wonderland of Mt. Rainier National Park, to the sandy shores of the most southwesterly city in the United States, there are few things that I take more joy in than sharing my experiences with others. I aim to create content that provokes and motivates others to experience profound moments in their lives. Whether that is visiting the Dark Sky Park in Bryce Canyon National Park and climbing granite boulders in Joshua Tree to lounging at home after a hard working day with a cup of tea and practicing yoga for the first time. XO Series is a blog that presents my love for travel, nature, lifestyle, and beauty in words and images to those who will enjoy with me as I look for more things to discover, more food to eat, and more products to try as I take my home back to the Pacific Northwest in Portland, Oregon.

[In]Complete Magazine
A magazine that celebrates you, just the way you are.

[IN]COMPLETE is a new kind of magazine: one that celebrates you, just the way you are. We believe in the empowerment of all and feature stories from men, women and children – everyone has a voice worth hearing and a story worth telling.
[IN]COMPLETE is a celebration of being present, now. We recognize that we live in a society that is consistently pushing toward the next big goal, and rarely focusing on just how far we’ve come. We believe in goals, in fact we encourage them, but we also believe in slowing down, breathing, and celebrating where we are, now.
At [IN]COMPLETE MAGAZINE we believe:
in the power of positive thinking – that creates positive people – that creates positive action – that creates a positive world
that life is about the small details, and that they all deserve celebration
in magic, love and our own beauty
