Jennie is a craft-lover who writes about DIY craft projects and creativity on her blog, littlegirldesigns.com. She firmly believes everyone has creativity ingrained in them and how it is expressed is part of the fun of living. She spends her days playing with her toddler, going on walks with her sweet family, and working on craft projects. She has been a maker since childhood and loves the feeling of finishing a project and especially giving it away as a gift.
The summer after second grade, at the tender age of eight, I started my first job. In the early morning hours, when the dew was still heavy on the vines, I boarded an old school bus with my siblings and most of the other town kids and rode to Hentze’s Berry Fields. Here I would spend the day picking strawberries. For pennies. This wasn’t exploitative child labor, it was a way of life in this small town nestled in the farmlands of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. It was a lot of things, more of which I’ll write about later, but for me it was the beginning of a passion for food. A passion that I have been blessed to make a career. Deep in my being is that red headed girl with the berry stained jeans. Strawberry Woman is the grown up version of that little girl, armed with lessons from a complicated life and countless hours cooking, ready to guide, instruct and inspire others toward a more peaceful and creative relationship with the kitchen.
