I want to share what Portland is like and what it has to offer, so I am writing about where I go to eat, what I do, and more around Portland!
I am a photographer and love to explore both the Pacfic Northwest and beyond. I include photographs of my hikes, travels, as well as events I photograph and portraits. I sell my work on the site as well.
Hi, I’m Waz! I recently relocated from New York City to Portland, Oregon. I’m an architect turned graphic designer, and I discovered my love for food while working in advertising for the wine industry. When I moved to NYC in 2011, I started Let’s Nom Nom as to document my cooking and dining adventures in my new city.
Over the years, I’ve gone from flexitarian to vegetarian to mostly vegan, and my blog has followed me on this journey. A plant-based diet is healthier and kinder to my body, to animals, and to our environment. I believe the best way to win omnivores over is by raising awareness of the positive effects of the plant-based movement and by celebrating great food that just so happens to be vegan. Today, my blog focuses on all things veggie, from restaurant reviews, to vegetarian recipes, to lifestyle and local events.
Lastly, why Let’s Nom Nom? Because food brings people together, and great food is best enjoyed with company!
I blog about the Northwest because I love living here. Anything in Oregon and Washington are part of my domain. It’s new and evolving.
A guide to the best things to do and places to eat in Portland, OR! Each post is accompanied by awesome photos and tips, and you can search using categories and the handy map.
Wine shouldn’t be about snobbery but about fun. Let us help you figure out your likes and dislikes. That way you can make more educated decisions and find wines you like to drink rather than just rolling the dice on a bottle, hoping you’ll enjoy what you taste. We believe that drinking wine is a great social activity too- and try to get the word out about wine events that are near and dear to our hearts!
I was one of the weird kids at school. I’m sure everyone says that but I have the pictures to prove it. From as early as I can remember I was always looking for something that made me, ME. I tried every club, joined every team, dressed up for every holiday and I mean EVERY holiday. I was looking for my place in the world.
As I became an adult that didn’t change. I read book after book on happiness, purpose, passion and any other thing I could think of that would help me find my place. I moved up in my career and was good at it, but it never really felt like a purpose.
Then one day on a stage in North Carolina, of all places, that changed. While my family regales anyone who will listen with stories of how chatty and bossy I have always been, talking in public was NOT something I was good at. But somehow on this stage it was different. I was speaking about women and the cultural changes we have seen in the last 50 years. I felt an electricity. People were laughing in all the right places, nodding in agreement and gasping with shock and awe when I wanted them to. I even had on a really great outfit that day. As I walked off that stage sweating and heart pumping, it came to me. THIS IS IT! This is what I am meant to do.
In that exact moment the owners of the company I was speaking at offered me a pretty sweet job. It was all so crazy, all this time searching and then BAM here it was. I found my purpose by spending 35 years hustling to find it. I realize that it was all the little things I learned that set me up for success. All the jobs I had ever dreamed of had one thing in common: talking. It was there the whole time, but I needed time to fine tune my instrument and realize that purpose wouldn’t show up exactly how I expected.
I am a storyteller and that is my place in this world. I am here to tell stories that inspire and build up other people to realize their value and purpose. My blog is an effort to push others towards their purpose and to lift up women and girls to their full glory.
I write about career, success, purpose, passion, culture, marketing , gender and just general good positive content.
