Social Media Strategies for your blog:

Ashley Stuart of SwellPath is sharing her insight on Social Media Strategies for blogs and brands at the next Portland Blogger’s Meet-up. We have awesome Portland area companies donating tasty treats to the event:

Water Avenue Coffee Company is a Portland-based roasters located in the Southeast Industrial district. In addition to their roasting house, they also have a café and Water Avenue Mobile, a vintage Step van that can often be seen buzzing around Portland or providing refreshments at large events. We are very excited to work with Water Ave. and introduce their delicious brew to the Portland Blogger Community.

Blue Star Donuts is not your average donut shop. Their donuts fresh-baked each morning from Brioche dough, which gives them a lighter texture from the ordinary, and the flavors will make you double take! From their Blueberry Bourbon & Basil to their Hard Apple Cider Fritter (and who can knock what seems to be the PNW favorite—Maple Bacon), Blue Star turns the idea of a donut shop into an amazing, mouth-watering experience. We are super psyched to have Blue Star Donuts donating some amazing creations to our upcoming Portland Blogger Event!

Nuvrei Patisserie & Cafe is a European and French inspired cafe located in NW Portland. You’ll find both traditional and modern interpretations of pastries, artisan breads, and Parisian macarons. They don’t stop at making buttery pastries and sweet treats. Stop by the cafe for house-made quiches and sandwiches or a cup of Coava coffee. We are happy to have some of Nuvrei’s treats at our next event. And, for those of you that want to continue networking after the event— Nuvrei is super close to the venue!

Our photographer will capture all the fun moments:

Don’t worry about bringing your camera (unless you want to!) because Grace of Hurtienne Photography  will be snapping the day away. “Hurtienne, like Martini but better” is what the website says of the Salem, Oregon Photography duo. We think Grace is pretty neat for offering up her services to shoot our little event! She has also generously offered to snap some head shots of those who would like them.

We hope you’re as excited about this event as we are!

See you Saturday!

Meet-Up Review // Portland Bloggers Strike a Pose

**This post is a review of the Portland Blogger’s March meet-up. Companies that helped make the meet-up possible are mentioned in this post. Companies listed donated services/products to make the event affordable and fun.**

Megan, The Boho Mama, welcoming attendees to the Portland Bloggers’ Strike a Pose event.

About a month ago we had our March meet-up at Jillian Rabe LLC ‘s The Space in the Pearl district of Portland. We had been gearing up for this meet-up pretty hard-core… I don’t know if we are just so excited that Spring is on the way or if it is just TIME after all the holiday craziness is over, but our Spring meet-ups the past two years have been AMAZING! (Check out last year’s spring meet-up.)

The “Strike a Pose” event was all about learning how to take better self-images for your blog and social media sites. Not all of the bloggers in our group take photos of themselves regularly. It was a great opportunity for people to get some tips on how to take better photos when they are the one in front of the camera. Thanks to area photographers & stylists, attendees also got the chance to get their photos styled and taken by some amazing pros.

Upon arrival guests got to start in on some delectable food items from Elephant’s Deli. Attendees were also given coupons to the deli with their check-in information that included a schedule of the event and a Tweet Sheet with sponsor’s twitter handles.

Area accessory and jewelry designers GlassCast, Chloe + Isabel, and Jade Rose offered up items to be worn in the photographs and donated items for a giveaway at the end of the event. Beauty specialist Marina McAvoy gave some last minute hair/makeup tips to attendees.

Reviews of the event from attendees:

*Please let me know if you have written a review of the event and it is missing from the list!

A big thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors. Each of these companies/individuals/blogs contributed in making the Portland Bloggers’ Strike a Pose event successful and affordable.
THANK YOU!

Screen shot 2013-04-01 at 9.25.48 PM

The CRAVE Company has a curated collection of innovative shops and businesses created by women. Because there are SO MANY women Portland Bloggers and because three of the Portland Bloggers are speaking at the next CRAVE event… I had to share it with you here. :)

The next event is called “In a Relationship with My Blog” and is scheduled for this upcoming Thursday evening.

From The CRAVE Company:

“Let’s discuss how to use your brand identity to promote a strong customer fan base. The importance of having your customers know you and not just your business is necessary for a small business. As the world becomes more technology driven some of us are hiding behind our brick and mortars. Start using technology to your advantage and introduce the world to your small business! Create a story, share the love you have for your business, introduce your co-workers, and yes…even upload giant photos of the food you’re eating for lunch. Let the world fall in love with you and your business just as much as you have. BE IN A RELATIONSHIP with your blog.”

Speakers: Colleen Wright - Digital Marketing Strategist

Jenni Bost – A Well Crafted Party & Portland Bloggers

Lynnette Fusilier - Connector-In-Chief at Neighborhood Notes

Sam Rosen – Blogger

Suzannah Hamlin Stanley - Blogger, Social Media Enthusiast, Portland Bloggers Group Organizer, and Soon-to-be-Published Author

When: Thursday, April 4th 2013, 7:00-9:00pm
